Tony Cottee

Although not the first player to appear in all four senior divisions in England in a single season, Tony is certainly the only one to do so since the formation of the Premiership. He began his journey at Leicester where he struggled to establish himself under new boss Peter Taylor and appeared just twice from the subs' bench before enjoying a short spell at Norwich where he linked up well with Iwan Roberts. He netted two goals for the Canaries but was then drawn back to London by the offer of a position as player-manager of Barnet who at the time were seen as candidates for promotion from the Third Division. His first game in charge produced a 7-0 demolition of Blackpool but although he scored regularly himself, including a hat-trick against Scunthorpe in December, the Bees hit a poor run of form, dropping towards the lower reaches of the table and he was replaced by former boss John Still in March. Tony moved on to Second Division promotion candidates Millwall to complete his trip around the divisions, providing some invaluable experience in the closing weeks of the campaign. However he made just two senior appearances from the subs' bench for the Lions before being released in the summer. Tony is still a quality striker who is full of tricks and able to deliver a rasping shot.
