After missing the start of the 2000-01 campaign through injury, Tony stormed back in style netting twice in the Worthington Cup tie against Gillingham and following this up with the Gulls' equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Lincoln City.
Such form attracted the attentions of scouts from higher clubs but he then seemed to lose his confidence and the goals dried up and, after netting at Hull City in mid-December, he managed just one more in the remainder of the campaign.
A striker who is strong on the ball and has good pace, after being placed on the transfer list in November 2001, Tony signed a new two-year contract in April 2003 that was extended to June 2006 in January 2005.
