After making his Dinamo Zagreb debut in 1997, Tomislav became the long term understudy to Drazen Ladic at Dinamo.
He later lost the captain's job for breaking a ruling about publicly discussing Dinamo's financial problems.
On the field, Tomislav reportedly attracted the interest of English clubs Manchester City and Portsmouth.
He travelled to the 2002 World Cup finals as second choice keeper to Stipe Pletikosa.
A keen arts collector, Tomislav owns a gallery in Zagreb.
