A goalscoring phenomenon in his schoolboy days on Tyneside, although Tom Phillipson did well in the reserves at Newcastle United, he didn't quite make the senior grade.

He did however go on to make his mark in some style at Wolverhampton Wanderers, notably establishing a Football League record of scoring in 13 consecutive Second Division games in 1926-27.
