Kaak joined Darlington in the 2000 close season and immediately impressed with his strong running and neat link up play. He made his debut in the opening league game at Rochdale and when he scored in successive home games against Plymouth and York his position looked secure for some time. However after only a handful of appearances he was deemed surplus to requirements and was allowed to leave. He had a trial period with Scottish Division Two outfit Clydebank where he scored once in two games before returning to Holland where he linked up with Ijsselmeervogels.
