After a tremendous pre-season, Titus found himself in the Ipswich Town team on merit when the 2000-01 campaign began at Tottenham Hotspur.
He retained his place for the visit of Manchester United and went on to score his first goal in the following game with Sunderland when he surged up the field, exchanged passes with Marcus Stewart and fired the ball into the net.
He has a very strong physique and the Portman Road fans really enjoyed it when he went on a 'surge' leaving defenders in his wake.
His strength and power are awesome and some of the best strikers in the Premiership found him to be a difficult opponent.
Titus also made a vital contribution to Town's excellent Worthington Cup run, scoring a late equaliser against Millwall and netting with a low shot following a corner in the home tie with Coventry City.
His fine performances earned him a place in the England Under-21 team against Georgia in August 2000 and he went on to win four more caps during the campaign.
He is the brother of the former Southend United striker, Tes Bramble.
A powerfully built centre-back, Titus was signed for Newcastle United by Sir Bobby Robson for £5million from their former club, Ipswich Town.
Capped ten times at England Under-21 level, he joined Wigan Athletic in July 2007 with a three-year contract that was extended to June 2012 in July 2009.
Titus joined Sunderland in July 2010 with a three-year contract.
