PositionMidfielder

Sherwood was again a highly influential figure for Tottenham Hotspur in 2000-01, often taking over the captain's armband in the absence of Sol Campbell. He performed consistently all season, perhaps his only weakness being a lack of goals - he netted just twice in the wins over Sunderland and Liverpool.

A talented midfield play maker, he is a stabilising figure in the centre of the park and his pace is very effective when joining the attack. His superb organisational skills are a great benefit to the team.

Sherwood joined Coventry City in July 2004 with a two-year contract but was made available for transfer in May 2005. He announced his retirement in July 2005.
