PositionGoalkeeper

Had a spell on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in April 1986 before being signed permanently by Southampton in June 1986.

Tim was in outstanding form in the early part of last season winning the Carling Premiership 'Player of the Month' award for September after conceding just one goal from open play in the first eight league fixtures.

He was being widely touted for an England recall and his prospects seemed bright when club manager Peter Taylor took temporary charge of the national team.

However a series of back and hip injuries rather wrecked his season thereafter.

Indeed, the hip trouble proved so severe that he was out of first-team contention from the turn of the year until Easter and his inspirational presence was clearly missed by the rest of City's rearguard.

Tim is now resigned to living with the hip problems until he eventually retires when he will require a major operation.

He returned but could not break into the first team and after the team were relegated at the end of the 2001-2002 season, he with Matt Elliott was put on the transfer list in an effort to reduce the clubs wage bill.

In August 2002 Manchester City signed him on a three month loan deal to cover for the injured Nicky Weaver and Peter Schmeichel.

Tim announced his retirement in May 2003.

In addition to the details shown below, as an unused sub, Tim was sent off after 21 minutes of Blackburn Rovers' Premiership match at Coventry City on 2 May 1998 for foul and abusive language directed at linesman Paul Vosper.
