Myhre found it impossible to dislodge Paul Gerrard from the goalkeeper's jersey at Everton in 2000-01 and, at the end of November, he joined First Division Tranmere Rovers on a month's loan, where he not only impressed with some efficient 'keeping but also had a steadying effect on a very young defence.
He enjoyed a brief run of first-team appearances at Goodison in the New Year when Gerrard was out injured but this included a harrowing 3-0 FA Cup defeat, ironically by Tranmere Rovers.
However although he dropped back into the reserves things then began to look up.
Firstly, he was recalled to the Norwegian national team then, in March, he moved on loan to FC Copenhagen where he featured regularly in the closing matches of the 2000-01 season, helping them to the Danish League title.
An experienced international with a good command of his area and sharp shot-stopping capabilities, Myhre joined Charlton Athletic in August 2005 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2007 in December 2005.
