Tepi Moilanen

Moilanen was signed in December 1995 as cover for John Vaughan and stepped into his shoes when John was released in the 1996 close season. He started the 1996-97 as first choice, but some indifferent form led him to lose his starting place to Bobby Mimms. He was found to have an injury to his hand, and after this was treated he spent the rest of the season on loan at Scarborough and Darlington. He started as the number one in 1997-98 his performances earned him his first full cap for Finland against Norway, he lost hid form and he found himself on the bench but returned after missing seven matches and remained as the first choice for the rest of the season. He stayed as number one in 1998-99 but he fractured a breast bone against Northampton Town, and when he recovered he could not dislodge David Lucas as the number one. He began as second choice in 1999-2000 but after David Lucas was dismissed against Wigan Athletic, he made the number one jersey his own. He was recalled to the Finland squad in March, reached 100 league and club appearances, won a second division championship medal and set a Preston record for clean sheets (24 league 28 in all). He started 2000-01 as number one but his season was interupted by two injuries, a back injury in suffered in September and another in April. He again started as number one in 2001-02 but another injury suffered in November ruled him out until the New Year. He ended the season as number one.
