A jack-of-all-trades, Ted's versatility proved to be his downfall with Newcastle as he played in no fewer than six different positions in his 20 senior outings.
A tall and fast defender he was signed from Crystal Palace and was a member of the promotion-winning side in 1906-07. He went on to become a successful coach both in this country and Germany.
