Roberts had his best season to date with Swansea City in 2000-01 and was regularly in the squad although often featuring from the subs' bench. He showed his versatility by appearing in a wide role, as a partner for Giovanni Savarese and as a third striker but wherever he was employed his pace and ability to beat his opponent were always evident.
He continued to be part of the Wales Under-21 set up, winning a further five caps during the campaign.
Roberts joined Chester City in July 2004 on non-contract terms before joining Kidderminster Harriers the following month on the same basis.
