Jones started the 2000-01 season as first-choice 'keeper for Torquay United but lost his place through injury and had to be content with sharing duties with Ryan Nortmore. He had been out of the team for some time when Andy Petterson's loan spell ended but he came back for the vital last game at Barnet and ended the campaign as a hero after saving a penalty. He is an excellent shot stopper.

Jones joined Brighton in February 2004 on non-contract terms before joining Doncaster Rovers in a one-year deal.
