A calf injury caused Stuart to miss out after starting the 2000-01 season as Lincoln City's left back.
He then suffered a stress fracture of the foot and was only restored to the first team at the beginning of March.
The change of management at Sincil Bank saw him become a first choice with his ball playing skills fitting the new style adopted by the team.
Stuart joined Cambridge United in July 2003 in a two-year deal.
