Still very much a force to be reckoned with this evergreen defender has over 500 appearances on the clock. A former England U-21 international he recently took his first step on the managerial ladder when he was appointed caretaker assistant manager at Bury following Neil Warnock's departure.Steve's incredible appetite for the game was still in evidence during 2000-01 as he competed in his seventeenth consecutive season of senior football. He performed his twin roles as player and assistant-manager for Bury with great success and his vast experience was particularly important in steadying the young defenders around him. A solid and reliable central defender he is cool under pressure and reads the game well.
