After shouldering the burden of a 'utility' tag in 1999-2000, Steve emerged as a defender of great accomplishment in 2000-01.
In a back four, he was often used a little out of position at right back but seemed to thrive in a back three, helping Chesterfield to nine clean sheets out of ten games between December and February.
Comfortable in the air and neat on the ground, Steve's obvious composure enhances his ability.
