Scottish international Steve Nichol was a top-class and versatile defender. With Liverpool he won the 1st Division Championship in 1984, 1986, 1988 and 1990, the FA Cup in 1986, 1989 and 1992 and runner-up in 1988, the European Cup in 1984 and runner-up in 1985 and the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year award in 1989. He went on to manage New England Revolution.
