A former Ipswich Town trainee who returned to non-League football with Thetford Town and Sudbury Town before joining Colchester, he has gone on to notch up some 250 appearances for his various clubs. Having finished the 1999-2000 campaign as Colchester's leading scorer Steve struggled to win a regular place in the starting line-up last season and was regularly used from the subs' bench. An experienced player who can operate either in an attacking midfield role or as a striker he scored just two goals last term, netting a double in the 2-0 win over Cambridge in October.
