Speaking at the time of Steve's move to Crewe Alexandra, Leigh RMI manager Steve Waywell said: 'Steve is one of those players who has come on leaps and bounds in the last two years, and has always had tremendous ability. I have never seen a player go past other players like Steve does and I think he'll go further still.'
Prior to Leigh, Steve was associated with Blackpool, Bury, Wrexham, Sligo Rovers and Chorley.
He agreed a new three-year deal with Crewe Alexandra in May 2003.
Steve joined Burnley in August 2006 with a three-year contract.
He joined Walsall in July 2009 with a two-year contract.
