Steve Jenkins

Jenkins was sidelined with a knee injury shortly after the start of the 2000-01 season and it was not until October that he returned to the Huddersfield Town line-up. A hard-working defender he came back in commanding form before he was loaned out to Birmingham City as part of a proposed exchange deal involving Peter Ndlovu. He did well at St Andrews but was hampered by a calf injury and a permanent deal failed to materialise. He subsequently returned to the McAlpine Stadium but was unable to prevent the Terriers from being relegated to the Second Division. Strong in the tackle and very influential at the back, he was recalled to the Wales international team for their World Cup qualifying matches against Poland and Ukraine in the summer.

Jenkins left Huddersfield Town in February 2003 when Cardiff City took over his contract for the rest of the season. He joined Notts County in August 2003 on a monthly basis due to the club being in administration before leaving the Magpies in January 2004.

The vastly experienced right-back was soon snapped up by Peterborough United with a contract to June 2005. However, he was made available for transfer in August 2004 and, after a loan spell, joined Swindon Town in December 2004 with a contract to June 2006.
