Howard played regularly up front for Northampton Town in the 2000-01 season alongside Marco Gabbiadini and Jamie Forrester until he surprisingly moved to neighbours Luton Town on the transfer deadline day.
He scored from the penalty spot in his second game for the Hatters at Wycombe Wanderers and also added two more in the final two games of the campaign.
He is a strong and powerful centre forward who holds the ball up well to bring his colleagues into play.
Howard's contract at Luton Town was extended to June 2007 in June 2005.
Howard joined Derby County in July 2006 with a three-year contract.
He joined Leicester City in January 2008 with a contract to June 2011 that was extended to June 2012 in October 2010.
