Holmes proved to be one of Lincoln City's most consistent players in a season that saw the Imps fighting against relegation. He was a very effective central defender but also provided a steady supply of goals both from set-piece moves and from the penalty spot. He finished the campaign as City's leading scorer in Third Division games with the remarkable tally for a defender of 11 goals.
