Although he is a right-footed player Steve started the 2000-2001 season at Macclesfield in the left-back position but was then sidelined for over six weeks with a knee injury. He returned in November to play at right back, a role to which he is more accustomed and kept his place in the Macc line-up for the remainder of the season. Steve is a defender who is effective in the tackle, distributes the ball well and likes to push forward down the flanks.
Steve's contract at Macclesfield Town was cancelled in January 2004.
