Having recovered from the knee injuries that troubled him in 1999-2000, Steve found it difficult to break into the Crystal Palace first-team squad in 2000-01 and made just a single appearance when coming off the subs' bench in the last minute of the end-of-season game at Portsmouth.
A promising left-sided midfield player, he won two caps for Wales at Under-21 level.
