The locally-born centre back had a disappointing 2000-01 season at Derby County.
Having commenced the campaign in the first team, he seemed set for an extended run, but the club's early season defensive frailties meant a change in both formation and personnel.
He was then sidelined by injury and, once fit, he had to be content with a return to the Rams' successful reserve side.
Steve, who is strong in the tackle and has good distribution skills, joined Blackpool in February 2004 after a loan stint with a contract to the end of the season.
Steve joined Bristol Rovers in July 2004 with a contract to June 2007 that was extended to June 2010 in June 2007.
He joined Cheltenham Town in July 2010 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2013 in June 2012 and to June 2014 in May 2013.
