League Cup winner 1997 with Leicester City.

Portsmouth's well-travelled marksman had another eventful season in 2000-01.

He got off to a great start netting a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of August and was then the surprise choice to succeed Tony Pulis as boss in October.

He netted on his managerial debut, and indeed finished the campaign as Pompey's leading scorer, but when Graham Rix took over as manager at the end of February he went on the transfer list.

He subsequently joined Millwall on loan on the deadline day and proved an inspirational signing for Lions' manager Mark McGhee.

He was a great help to Neil Harris and Richard Sadlier and scored twice in the vital 4-0 win over promotion rivals Rotherham United, the second of which was a brilliant chip from 25 yards out.

An experienced striker who is full of tricks, he has an excellent first touch and holds the ball up well.

Steve was appointed player / manager of Weymouth in June 2003 on a five-year contract.

He joined Brighton & Hove Albion in November 2004 on a month's contract then Brentford in a deal to the end of the season.

After his very brief stint as Millwall's manager, Steve joined Gillingham on non-contract terms in August 2005 before joining Bradford City with a one-year contract.

He returned to AFC Bournemouth in December 2006 with a monthly contract, so having the opportunity to make his 1,000th senior appearance.
