This stylish Middlesbrough defender joined Hartlepool United on loan in October 2000 to strengthen a team badly hit by injuries.
He acquitted himself well in a two-month stay at the Victoria Ground and there was talk of a permanent move but no deal could be reached and he returned to the Riverside Stadium to continue his development in the reserves.
