Stephen Armstrong

Although born in England Stephen arrived at Watford last October via a rather circuitous route. Having been brought up in South Africa he then studied in the United States where he was a star of college soccer with Butler University and also featured for the Premier Development League club Mid-Michigan Bucks. Although he then had the opportunity of signing for DC United he chose to go to Europe where he spent the summer in Sweden before joining the Hornets on a 12-month contract. A talented left winger with a good scoring record for his college team, he struggled to break into the squad at Vicarage Road and made only a handful of appearances from the subs' bench. Following his release in May Stephen joined MLS side DC United and is now a regular in their starting eleven.
