Osborn had a chequered start to the 2000-01 campaign with Wolverhampton Wanderers and spent a short while out with an injury early on.
Returning to the side as skipper, he continued to operate in a midfield 'holding' role where he worked hard to harass opponents although this was not always appreciated by the Wolves fans.
He subsequently damaged a tendon in his big toe in the FA Cup tie at Wycombe Wanderers and, soon after he had regained fitness, he was on his way out of Molineux.
He joined Tranmere Rovers on the Transfer Deadline Day and stayed until the end of the season but was unable to prevent them being relegated from the First Division.
Osborn's player / coach contract at Walsall was extended to June 2006 in May 2005.
Osborn joined Hereford United in August 2006 on non-contract terms.
