Haworth had a great start to the 2000-01 campaign, scoring regularly for Wigan Athletic before being sidelined by a hamstring injury. He returned to finish the season as top scorer for the Latics and also had the distinction of becoming the first player to score a hat trick at the JJB Stadium when he did so in the 3-1 win over Colchester United in September. Quick, skilful and with an ability to score spectacular goals he looks capable of playing at a higher level.
