Simon Collins

Collins started the 2000-01 season with some strong performances in the centre of the Macclesfield Town defence. Unfortunately he was then sidelined following a cartilage operation and later with knee ligament damage and did not regain his position on a regular basis. He moved on loan to Shrewsbury Town in the new year where he began to establish a useful partnership with new signing Matt Redmile. However he was recalled early due to an injury crisis and subsequently featured for Macc in the closing weeks of the campaign. He is a powerful central defender who tackles effectively and is good in the air. Collins is the elder brother of Bury's Sam Collins.
