Signed by Bolton Wanderers during the 2000 close season, Simon proved another excellent recruit for Wanderers' boss Sam Allardyce.
Simon won a regular first-team place from October but a hamstring problem then put him out of action for some time.
Although he featured occasionally, it was not until March that he returned to the starting line-up as a first choice.
He then grabbed the opportunity with both hands and was a revelation for the remainder of the campaign, holding down the left-back spot with some fine performances.
A strong and composed defender, he impressed with his accurate distribution, crossing ability and skill on the ball.
Simon joined Norwich City in July 2004 with a two-year contract.
he joined Oldham Athletic in August 2006 with a one-year contract.
