Hessey was released by Liverpool in the 1997 close season after completing his stint at Anfield as a trainee.
His contract at Chester City was extended to June 2008 in June 2006 but was made available for transfer in July 2007.
After a loan spell, Hessey joined Macclesfield Town in July 2008 with a two-year contract.
He joined Accrington Stanley in August 2010 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2012 in July 2011.
