PositionMidfielder

Signed from Leeds United to replace Kevin Sheedy on Newcastle's left flank in Kevin Keegan's teams' run-in to promotion to the Premiership. Having helped the Toon settle in to the top flight, Scott suffered a terrible cartilage injury and was subsequently replaced by David Ginola.

This skilful midfielder started the early part of the 2000-01 season on the substitutes' bench for Huddersfield, often called upon late in the game to add extra fuel to the midfield fires. With his bright and inventive style of play he was able to conjure up that vital tackle or pass to unlock opposition defences. Scott became a regular in the side in late October, before a sending off and then injury put him on the sidelines. Still considered for first-team duties when fully fit, the experienced midfielder turned down a loan deal to Hartlepool before deadline day and in mid-April moved to Denmark to join Aarhus on a free transfer.

Scott returned to English football in March 2002 when he joined Mansfield Town on a short-term contract and helped guide the Stags to promotion to Division Two. He agreed a further deal in the close season that keeps him at Field Mill until Christmas 2002.
