Scott Parker

Although one of the most skilful players on Charlton Athletic's books, Scott Parker was unable to break into the Addicks' team on a regular basis at the start of 2000-01 and joined Norwich City on loan at the end of October.

He impressed all at Carrow Road with some fine performances and netted an opportunist goal in the game at Sheffield Wednesday.

On returning to The Valley, he eventually got his chance when Mark Kinsella was injured and proved to be a revelation when he came into the side, retaining his place until the end of the campaign.

He produced some stylish performances in the centre of midfield and was particularly impressive against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Scott made his debut for England Under-21s in the friendly against Georgia in August and added a further three caps during the season.

He joined Chelsea in January 2004 with a contract to June 2008 before joining Newcastle United in June 2005 in a five-year deal.

Scott's consistent form at Newcastle propelled him to the fringes of the England squad before a bout of glandular fever ruled him out of 2006 World Cup selection.

Scott joined West Ham United in June 2007 with a five-year contract that was extended to June 2013 in February 2009 and to June 2014 in September 2010.

England's forgotten man after a five-year sojourn, he was handed a starting birth under Fabio Capello and rarely looked back.

Especially due to Frank Lampard's injury absence, Scott appeared to be a guaranteed starter during England's Euro 2012 challenge despite struggling with an achilles problem during Tottenham Hotspur's final games of the 2011-12 season.

He joined Fulham in August 2013 with a three-year contract that was extended to June 2017 in May 2016.
