A youngster at Arsenal, his potential was missed and he had a great career with Newcastle United and Dundee as well as playing for Scotland.
Went on to manage Charlton Athletic, Dundee and Blackpool.
A fully committed player who could operate all along the front line, Sandy had already impressed at Arsenal and went on to make over 300 appearances for Dundee. He became a respected manager in the inter-war period.
