Hoult moved from Leicester City initially on loan in February 1995.
His transfer to Derby County was made permanent in July.
Hoult was an ever-present for Portsmouth in the first half of the 2000-01 season until acting-manager Steve Claridge was tempted by West Bromwich Albion's offer and he returned to the Midlands where he had spent most of his career.
He soon replaced Brian Jensen as the Baggies' first-choice 'keeper and immediately inspired confidence in the defence, producing some outstanding performances to help the club to a place in the end-of-season Play-Offs.
A goalkeeper who shows good command of his area he is particularly adept at handling awkward crosses.
Hoult's West Brom contract was extended to June 2007 in September 2003.
He joined Stoke City in January 2007 with a contract to the end of the season that was extended to June 2008 in July 2007.
After loan spells, Hoult joined Notts County in July 2008 with a two-year contract.
