Undisputed number one after taking Alexander Filimonov's place, he is famous in his own country for looking like Renat Dasayev. He began his career at KamAZ before signing for Moscow Spartak in 1995. He shared the goalkeeping duties with Filimonov for the club and switched to Lokomotiv Moscow in 1998. He made his international debut in April 2000 against the USA and after the team's failure to qualify for the 2000 European Championship Finals he has become the first choice. He was voted Russian football writers player of the year in 2001 and moved to Italy to play for Verona in December 2001. An accomplished keeper, tall and commanding he looks an impressive performer.
