Hunter was again badly affected by injury problems in 2000-01. He lasted just two minutes when making a return to the Northampton reserve team last September and it was not until March that he finally appeared to have recovered from his long-standing knee injury. After a few outings from the subs' bench he made the starting line-up for the final game of the campaign at home to Walsall. When fully fit he was a dynamic midfield player for the Cobblers.
