Essandoh's big break at Wycombe Wanderers was one of the fairy tale stories of English football in 2000-01.

Having returned from a spell in Finland, he had trials with a number of clubs including Conference outfit Rushden & Diamonds before his agent came across an appeal for a striker on the internet by Wycombe manager Lawrie Sanchez.

Introduced into the game in the second half, he scored a dramatic last-minute header to send the Chairboys into the semi-final for the first time ever.

A tall and athletic striker who is very effective in the air, he won a contract at Adams Park until the end of the season but was then released in the summer.

Back at the start of his career, Essandoh joined Motherwell from Cumbernauld United.
