Rory Delap had a mixed season at Derby County in 2000-01.

A regular in the Rams' first team where he played in a variety of positions according to the tactics used, his preference was for either a role on the right side of midfield or as a right wing back.

Injuries even forced Jim Smith to use him as an emergency striker on occasions.

Very fast going forward, but less so when tracking back, he scored what was arguably the Rams' 'Goal of the Season' with a long-range strike in the away game at Leicester City.

Rory joined Sunderland in January 2006 with a contract to June 2008.

After a loan spell, he joined Stoke City in January 2007 with a contract to June 2009 that was extended to June 2011 in July 2009.

Rory joined Burton Albion in July 2013 with a one-year contract before announcing his retirement in December 2013.
