A competent, versatile defender, Ronny starred in the 1999 'Treble' team, but a succession of injuries caused him to become known as 'The Ice Man'. Won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and the Champions League at United.
A free agent following his release by Aston Villa, Ronny was brought in to provide defensive cover after the Summer 2004 transfer window had closed.
Ronny joined Newcastle United in September 2004 with a contract to the end of January 2005.
Signed by Newcastle boss Graeme Souness to fill the gap left by Jonathan Woodgate's departure to Real Madrid, the experienced defender remained a short-term option due to injury concerns.
