Thomas had a frustrating time at Brighton last season. Made available on a free transfer in the summer of 2000 he only featured from the subs bench in a handful of early games and spent the remainder of the campaign languishing in the reserves. His contract with the Seagulls expired in May and it was announced he was to be released by the club. Thomas is a lively winger with good ball control and the ability to beat opposition defenders.
