This tough-tackling and versatile player began 2000-01 playing at right back for Brentford.
He later moved to centre back before settling in a central midfield role alongside Paul Evans.
Having been a near-ever present for the Bees it was something of a surprise when he was sold to Second Division strugglers Oxford United along with Andy Scott in January.
He mostly featured in a midfield anchor role for the Us and although affected by suspension and injury he contributed one of the goals in the surprise 4-3 win over promotion-chasing Rotherham United.
Out of contract at the end of the 2001-02 season, Rob became Bristol Rovers eighth signing of the summer when he agreed a two-year deal.
He later played for Welling United, Cray Wanderers and Sevenoaks.
