Rob Matthews

Matthews was again hampered by injuries at Stockport in the first half of the 2000-01 campaign but eventually returned to full fitness in the new year. He subsequently joined Third Division Halifax Town on loan where he played a handful of games, scoring twice including a stunning goal in the 3-0 win at Southend in February. However he then made a permanent move to Hull City in March assisting the Boothferry Park club into the play-offs. Like team-mate Rodney Rowe he has achieved the unusual double of being signed by both the Little brothers -Alan having recruited him for York and Brian for Hull.

Matthews is an experienced right winger capable of some tricky play down the flank. He went on the transfer list at the end of the 2001-02 season before his Hull contract was cancelled by mutual consent in July. He was soon snapped up by Northwich Victoria where he had scored in City's 5-2 FA Cup win in November 2001.
