Seemingly out of favour at Sheffield United following the arrival of Gus Uhlenbeek, Rob made one substitute appearance before moving on loan to Huddersfield Town where he made a tremendous impact in a two-month spell at the McAlpine Stadium.
He returned to Bramall Lane a much more confident player while his concentration was improved and his speed, timing and anticipation in defence were of a higher quality.
A hard-working full back he quickly went on to become a fixture in the Blades' line-up.
Rob was made available for transfer in June 2005 before his contract was extended to June 2007 in February 2006.
His Barnsley contract was extended to June 2010 in June 2009.
Rob re-joined Sheffield United in July 2010 with a one-year contract.
He joined Port Vale in September 2011 with a contract to January 2012 that was cancelled in December 2011.
Rob joined Bradford City in January 2012 with a contract to June 2012.
