Richie Wellens

Richie Wellens missed the opening matches of the 2000-01 season due to suspension but then went on to establish himself as a regular in the centre of the Blackpool midfield for the remainder of the campaign.

Tigerish in the tackle, he also displays some neat creative touches and has a good scoring record.

He netted the winner against York City in January 2001 with a brilliant free kick curled in from the edge of the penalty box.

Richie's contract at Blackpool was extended in March 2003 up to the end of the 2004-05 season, then to June 2007 in April 2005 before joining Oldham Athletic in June 2005 with a two-year contract.

Richie joined Doncaster Rovers in July 2007 in a two-year deal that was extended to June 2010 in July 2008.

He joined Leicester City in July 2009 with a three-year contract that was extended to June 2014 in March 2011 before it was cancelled in July 2013.

His contract at Doncaster Rovers was extended to January 2014 in September 2013 then to June 2015 and to June 2016 in August 2014 before it was cancelled in January 2016.

Richie joined Shrewsbury Town in January 2016 with a contract to June 2017 that was cancelled in August 2016.
