One of the youngsters to graduate through Crewe Alexandra's successful academy set-up, Richard stepped in to make his Football League debut at Preston North End in November 2000.
He also featured in the home game with Sheffield Wednesday soon afterwards, before being loaned to Dr Martens League outfit Halesowen Town in March.
He was subsequently recalled to Gresty Road and played in the 3-3 draw at Wimbledon the following month.
A very confident central defender, he looks to be a great prospect.
Richard agreed a new three-year deal with Crewe in June 2003.
He joined Macclesfield Town in March 2008 on a monthly contract that was extended to June 2009 in June 2008.
