Tracey began the 2000-01 campaign on a short-term contract with Carlisle United but struggled to win a regular place in the line-up.
He was released in November and joined Macclesfield Town at the end of January following a successful trial period.
He made his debut from the subs' bench in the home defeat by Cardiff City when he scored with his first touch but then picked up injuries in his next two appearances and consequently was out of action until the middle of March when he returned to put in some steady performances.
Away from football, Tracey was in his second year of a four-year part-time course studying for a Bsc (Hons) degree in Sports Science.
