After missing most of the 1999-2000 with a back injury Richard finally returned to action in mid-November but after a brief run in the Grimsby Town first team at the turn of the year he was once again sidelined with a knee ligament problem. When fully fit he is a classy centre back who possesses a powerful long throw.
